Fishing here is mostly ice fishing: of the 50 trips we list from 31 operators, 24 name ice fishing in the title and only four name open water. A plain ice fishing trip typically lasts three hours and costs about 97 euros per person; trips that add a snowmobile, a reindeer or huskies typically last four hours and cost about 161 euros. Thirty-one of the 50 say the fishing equipment is included, and 24 say winter clothing is too. The ice fishing season follows the snow: snow lies on the ground on practically every day from December to April, and on no day from June to September.

Only 17 of the 50 trips say which months they run, so the table above is about the weather rather than about what is on sale. The monthly mean temperature stays below freezing from November to March; whether the ice is safe on a given day is the operator’s call, not something our data can tell you. Daytime temperatures average about −10.5 °C in January and −2.1 °C in March, so a three-hour trip on an open lake is a cold one even at noon.

Of the 31 tours that state a duration in hours, the typical (median) tour takes 3 h 30 min; the shortest 1 h and the longest 8 h. 19 do not state a usable duration.
Can children join?
7 of the 50 tours here state a minimum age: from 2 years to 10 years (median 3 years); 7 from the operator's own page. The other 43 do not state one, which is not the same as saying children can join — ask the operator. Tours with a stated minimum age of 4 years or less are marked family-friendly.
Is winter clothing included?
24 of 50 tours say winter clothing is included and 0 say it is not included or only on request. 26 do not mention it. Checked from the listing text (on GetYourGuide, the start of the "included" list), so a listing can say more than we found.
How cold is it during the day?
Mean daytime temperature (10:00–16:00) by month: December -6.8 °C, January -10.5 °C, February -7.7 °C. Whether winter clothing is included is a separate question above; the tour list marks it on each tour that states it.
When should I book?
Ice fishing does not depend on a clear sky, so it is easy to move to another day. Ask what the price covers: only two of the 50 trips say a fishing permit is included, while 31 say the equipment is. Finland’s state fisheries management fee is a mandatory basic fee for fishers aged 18 to 69 who fish with lures or traps, so whether your trip needs one depends on how you fish.

Background
Ice fishing means drilling a hole through the ice with an auger and jigging a short rod over it, which is why the trips are sold as an easy thing to try rather than as a sport. Nineteen of the 50 trips are sold together with another activity — a snowmobile ride, a reindeer or husky visit, snowshoes — and those are the ones that cost the most. Nothing in our data says whether you may keep or eat the catch, so treat that as a question for the operator.

Each candidate with a website was checked on its own website. Tour details are taken first from the operator’s own website (or Visit Finland DataHub (opens in a new tab)); booking platforms fill in what the operator’s page does not state.
The tables and tour lists include the fishing trips in our data that have a working booking link: 50 tours (50 with details from the operator’s own website; listed on: DataHub 15, operator site 41 — the same tour is often listed in several places, so these add up to more than 50), collected 2026-09-22. Fishing: fishing named in the tour title, or (if the title names no activity) in the collected listing text. Pages that are not a single bookable fishing trip — an overview page, a company front page, a permit or rental — were left out after reading the page. 1 tour was left out because it has no working booking link yet. A tour whose operating base is more than 50 km from the centre is listed only when the tour page says it departs from, or picks up in, the destination; the distance is then shown on the tour. Distances are measured from coordinates in Visit Finland DataHub, or from the postal code of the company’s registered address (PRH open data (opens in a new tab); postal code areas from Statistics Finland (opens in a new tab)). Prices change daily; check them on the booking page.
Links to operators’ own pages were last checked on : 1404 addresses across every activity on this site, of which 21 did not answer with a working page and are not linked. GetYourGuide and Viator links are not fetched.
